RYA Short Range Certificate for VHF - DSC This one day/two evening course covers operation of marine VHF radios fitted with Digital Selective Calling (DSC). As part of the Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) the DSC facility automates many of the procedures traditionally carried out on channel 16. This qualification is a mandatory requirement for anyone wishing to use the new generation of DSC/GMDSS radios. The course assumes no prior knowledge, and covers all the theory required combined with practical experience on our training radios.
